Sue Jean Park, violin
Born
in Seoul,
South Korea,
violinist Sue-Jean
Park began her studies on
the violin with her mother. She graduated from Seoul National
University, Yale
University
and the University
of Texas at Austin where her primary
teachers included the legendary violinist, Erick Friedman, Vincent
Frittelli, Kyung-Hee Yoon and Jeong Jun-Soo.
She also received instruction
in chamber music from the
Tokyo String Quartet, Miro Quartet, and Peter Frankl.
In addition Dr. Park has participated in masterclasses from
artists such Leon Fleisher, James Buswell and the Guarneri Quartet.
Dr.
Park is currently concertmaster of The Jackson Symphony, TN and
previously served in that capacity for orchestras such as the
Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra (UNESCO Artist for Peace), Seoul
Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, Seoul National University Symphony,
The University of Texas at Austin Symphony Orchestra.
As an orchestral musician, Ms. Park performed in Carnegie
Hall, Berlin Philharmonic Hall, Holland (Concertgebow Hall),
Switzerland (Verbier Festival), Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and the
Philippines under the baton of
Sir
Neville Mariner and
Kurt
Mazur. She also
was the associate concertmaster of the Rome Festival Orchestra in Italy and a
principal violin of Yale Philharmonia, Pacific Music Festival
Orchestra in Japan, and the
Victoria Symphony, TX. In
addition Dr. Park held positions as a tenured member of the Austin
Symphony and the Austin Lyric Opera Orchestra, TX.
As a concerto soloist, Ms. Park played with the Jenesses
Musicales World Orchestra, Seoul Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, the
Jackson Symphony and Paducah Symphony.
As a solo recitalist, she has performed recitals in
Seoul
and US several states. She
has won competitions both in the
US
and Korea
in both solo and chamber music categories.
Besides a performer, Dr. Park is a dedicated educator and is
serving as Assistant Professor of Violin and Viola at Murray State
University in Murray, Kentucky
Jacob Clark, piano
Pianist
Jacob Clark received his musical education primarily in Texas,
completing his BM, MM, and DMA in piano performance at the
University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Clark has been awarded prizes in
several competitions, mostly notably being named a prizewinner in
the 2004 Sidney Wright Accompanying Competition, and the 2004 Janice
K. Hodges Contemporary Piano Performance Award. Currently Dr. Clark
is on the faculty of the Levine School of Music in Washington D.C.
where he teaches both group and individual piano.
An active performer, he has presented recitals in venues such
as the historic Church of the Epiphany in Washington D.C., the
Mansion at Strathmore, the University of Texas at San Antonio, Delta
State University, Murray State University and the Capital City
Christian Church where he performed his Washington concerto debut
with the Washington Sinfonietta.
