Andrew Hudson

Clarinetist Andrew Hudson has won the 2008 MTNA National Senior Woodwind Competition, the 2011 Northwestern University Concerto Competition, the 2010 & 2009 Jaqueline Avent Memorial Concerto Competition in Sewanee, TN (becoming the first person to ever win the grand prize twice), the 2010 Columbus State University Concerto Competition and the 2008 MTNA Southern Chamber Music Competition (with the “10th & Broadway” clarinet quartet). He was also a Finalist in the 2010 Vandoren Emerging Artists Competition and awarded Honorable Mention at the 2011 Coeur d’Alene Young Artist Competition. Andrew was awarded the Presser Scholar Award and Stipend as well as an Undergraduate Research and Scholarly Activity Grant by Columbus State University.

Notable performances include the 2011 International Clarinet Association Convention (w/ 10th & Broadway), the 2011 International Alliance for Women in Music Congress, the 2011 College Music Society Great Lakes Region Conference, the 2009 North American Saxophone Alliance Region 6 Conference and the 2010, 2009 and 2007 Georgia Music Educators Conventions. Andrew has been invited to perform on the “Aperiodic Chicago” New Music Series and for WTVM Columbus. He has performed with the Kenosha, Huntsville, LaGrange and Auburn Symphonies and each summer is professor of clarinet at the Tennessee Valley Music Festival.

An avid proponent of contemporary music, he has premiered numerous works to date by composers such as Theresa Martin, J.M. David, Fred Cohen, William May and others. Andrew is an alumnus of the Sewanee, Hot Springs and Belgian Clarinet Academy summer music festivals. He completed the BM in Clarinet Performance at Columbus State University in Columbus, GA, and is presently pursuing a Masters of Clarinet Performance at Northwestern University.
